Oscar nominees for best film
With the 2012 Academy Awards just around the corner, and the nominations announced this past Tuesday, there are many surprises. For example, Michael Fassbender in Shame wasn’t even considered (maybe Hollywood was put off by his masculine performance?) and We Need to Talk About Kevin’s Tilda Swinton, was by far our favourite performance by any actress this year but of course, could not compare with Meryl Streep in the eyes of the Oscar world. Gary Oldman, meanwhile, is in as Best Actor for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy – his first-ever Oscar nod, incredibly and as usual Leonardo DiCaprio did not receive a nomination for his work in J. Edgar. Who will snap up best picture or film?
